TypingCraft is designed with privacy in mind. The application can run entirely in your browser without an account. If you choose to create an account, we store minimal necessary data to sync your progress and display your high scores on the global leaderboard.
If you choose to create an account (via email/password or Google Login), we collect and store the following data on our secure cloud database (Firebase):
Regardless of whether you are logged in or using the app anonymously, we do not collect:
Anonymous Users: All your settings, history, and scores are saved exclusively in your own browser's localStorage and never leave your device.
Logged-In Users: Your local data is periodically synchronized with our cloud database to ensure your history is preserved across devices and your best scores appear on the leaderboard.
| Data | Purpose | Where stored |
|---|---|---|
| Username & email | Authentication & display | Firebase (Cloud) |
| WPM & accuracy scores | Performance chart | Local & Firebase (Cloud) |
| App settings | Remember preferences | localStorage (Local only) |
| Leaderboard entries | Global high scores | Firebase (Cloud) |
TypingCraft uses Google Firebase for secure authentication and database hosting. Firebase's privacy policies govern how they securely process this data on our behalf. We also use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics (like page views and traffic sources) to help us improve the website, and Google Fonts to load typography.
TypingCraft does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor their children's online activity. Anonymous usage of the app is safe for all ages.
If we ever change how data is handled, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
